Why I started Sweetview

Sweetview is based on Wilkin Road and covers Wānaka and the Upper Clutha. It is deliberately a one-person business. When you call, you get me. When I quote, I have seen the job. And when something is not right, there is nobody to pass it to — which is exactly why it does not happen often.

The work is glass first: houses, shopfronts, holiday homes and new builds. Alongside that I clean solar panels and soft wash exteriors, because they need the same water system and the same access gear, and because most people would rather book one person than three.

How I work

Exterior glass is done with a pure water system — water filtered down to zero dissolved minerals, fed up a carbon-fibre pole. Because there is nothing in the water, it dries off the glass leaving nothing behind: no spots, no soap film, and nothing for Wānaka's dust to key into afterwards. Interiors are still done by hand with a squeegee and scrim, because that is genuinely better indoors.

The pole reaches three storeys, which means most of the tall glass around here gets cleaned from the ground rather than off a ladder leaned against someone's joinery. Safer for me, and no ladder feet in your garden.

I clean the whole window, not just the pane — frames, tracks, sills and the cobwebs in the corners. That is the part that makes a house look properly looked after, and it is the part most people find is skipped.

Fully insured, including public indemnity. If you look at something after I have gone and you are not happy with it, tell me and I will come back and put it right. That is the whole policy — there is no form.
